Bring back the Minivan gurus
by Dave & Emily on Dec.10, 2008, under Business
When Chrysler Corporation received government loans in 1979, it was unprecedented. Now, the entire “Big 3″ needs money, and this current proposed automotive bailout is so important to the U.S. economy, especially Michigan. The question is whether the current CEOs can deliver like Chrysler did – in 1979, they wisely used the loans to create the “K-car” and widely successful minivans (both are credited to saving the company). They kept afloat, became successful and paid back the loans by 1983! Lee Iaccoca was instrumental at getting this all in place…with the help of a fellow Italian, who really helped put the minivan on the map.
